Siskiyou Violins

Performing in the 2018 Green Show on Tuesday, September 18

This is their eighth season at the OSF Green Show

Siskiyou Violins is a youth violin ensemble like no other!

The Siskiyou Violins originally began as a small group of advanced violin students from the studio of Ashland violin instructor Faina Podolnaya, who first led the group to a Gold Medal winning performance at Carnegie Hall in 2005.

Ms. Podolnaya was born in a small village in the Ukraine, and received her Master's in Music Teaching and Performance from Kazakhstan University. She won many impressive awards in her home country before coming to America, including the Excellence of Teaching Medal from the government of Kazakhstan, and the prestigious Soviet Union Laureate Teacher of the Year Award.

Following another Gold Medal winning performance at the famous Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2008, the judges urged Ms. Podolnaya to make her group more available. "These students need to be heard," they told her. Accordingly, the decision was made to formally organize as a 501(c)(3)nonprofit which status was awarded in 2009. The group earned additional Gold Medals at Carnegie Hall in 2012 and Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2014. In between competitions they have appeared at numerous venues throughout the Rogue Valley including the Craterian Theatre, Southern Oregon University, Britt Festival, numerous OSF Green Shows and many more.
