Where Are They Now?

Did you know that a number of past and present OSF actors/artists are readers for audiobooks produced by Blackstone Audio? Ray Porter and Anthony Heald are particularly prolific, with 72 and 40 titles, respectively. Other readers include Claudia Alick, Kevin Kenerly, Peter Macon, G. Actor/director Kenneth Albers (at OSF many seasons) has an adaptation of Kafka's The Trial currently playing at New Century Theatre Company in Seattle through May 5.

Linda Alper (at OSF 24 seasons) is appearing as Lynn Fontanne in Ten Chimneys at Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland through May 26. She recently returned from a second visit to Taiwan, via a writers' grant from the National Science Council. Her translation of Napoli Milionaria!, written with Beatrice Basso, will be produced by American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco next season.  

Charlie Bachmann (at OSF two seasons) is the Community Arts Coordinator at Creative Clay Cultural Arts Center in St. Petersburg, FL teaching Theater, Film and Visual Arts to artists with physical, emotional and/or developmental challenges.

Marco Barricelli begins his sixth season as artistic director of Shakespeare Santa Cruz in 2013 and will be acting in the production of Henry V.

Christian Barillas (at OSF 2010) appeared in The Motherf***er with the Hat at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, CA. In 2012, he appeared in the film Seven Psychopaths, the pilot for ABC Family’s “Bunheads” and in Macbeth with The Antaeus Company.

Former OSF director (1982, Black Swan) and Education director Paul Barnes recently retired as the artistic director of the Great River Shakespeare Festival in Winona, MN, after nine seasons. Paul and 36-year OSF veteran James Edmondson will both direct in the company's 2013 season.

Robert Alan Barnett (1986-'88) guest starred on TNT's Leverage and NBC's Grimm this year. Next up, Charlie Baker in The Foreigner for Bellevue Civic Theatre.

Stephanie Beatriz (at OSF three seasons) is currently appearing on ABC-TV's Modern Family as the sister of Sofia Vergara's character Gloria.

Mark Bedard (at OSF since 2008) recently appeared as Vladimir in Waiting for Godot at Marin Theatre Company and currently appears in the comedy Boeing-Boeing at Seattle Repertory Theatre  through May 19.

Aldo Billingslea (at OSF eight seasons) teaches at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA.

Tim Blough (at OSF six seasons) guest-starred on TNT’s Leverage and NBC’s Grimm.

Actor Mark Booher (OSF 1991-92) is the artistic director of PCPA (Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts) in Santa Maria and Solvang, CA.

Orion Bradshaw (at OSF 2009-10) spent his second season in a row with the OSF School Visit program, then returned to Portland and began his new year by directing Post5 Theatre's production of Macbeth, which runs through March 17. In May, he will be performing as Jacobo in Dance for a Dollar at Milagro (Miracle) Theatre. In June, he will be seen as Antony in Antony and Cleopatra (Human Being Curious theatre company). In late summer, he will portray Caius Cassius in Julius Caesar (Post5 Theatre). Desdemona Chiang
(assistant director, King Lear) received a best director award from the Seattle Theatre Critics Association for her 2012 Azeotrope Theatre production of Jesus Hopped the A Train at A Contemporary Theatre.

Actor Megan Cole (at OSF 1970s, 80s & 90s, most recently in 1993) continues her work as “Actor In Healthcare” at venues such as the Mayo Clinic and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She received the 2010 McGovern Award from the American Medical Writers Association and has a new website: www.megancole.net. Megan recently appeared in Three Tall Women at Seattle Repertory Theatre. Actor Lesley Schisgall Currier (at OSF 1987) is the founding Managing Director of Marin Shakespeare Company, since 1989.

OSF Resident Costume Design Assistant/Designer Denise Damico (1998–2007) is now the costume shop manager of Seattle Repertory Theatre.

Eileen DeSandre (at OSF 16 seasons) recently appeared in Athol Fugard's The Road to Mecca at Profile Theatre in Portland.

Actor Dante DiLoreto (at OSF 1985-87) is an executive producer of the hit TV series Glee on the FOX network, as well as the new television series "The New Normal".

Actor Christopher DuVal (at OSF 2000-08) is an Assistant Professor of Movement, Stage Combat, Voice and Acting Shakespeare at the University of Idaho, where OSF’s Rex Rabold Fellows hail from every year. Chris has also taken over as co-Artistic Director of Idaho Repertory Theatre – operating during the summer on the campus of the University. Chris has become recognized as a Certified Teacher with the world’s largest stage combat certifying organization, the Society of American Fight Directors. He is fight directing this season's production of The Heart of Robin Hood at OSF.

Michael Elich (at OSF 19 seasons) appeared in Red, by John Logan, at the Clarence Brown Theatre at the University of Tennessee. The production was directed by former OSF guest director and resident director of movement and stage combat John Sipes.  

Karole Foreman (at OSF 1995-96) has been invited to be a resident artist at the Broadway Theatre Project in New York City, and has been cast in the film The Jackie Robinson Story, filming in Georgia this summer.

Susannah Flood (at OSF 2010-11) appeared in the long-running play Tribes at the Barrow Street Theatre in New York City.

Laura Griffith (at OSF 2012) recently played Marian Paroo in The Music Man at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre.

Anthony Heald is guest starring in selected episodes of the television series Monday Mornings on TNT.

Brenda Hubbard (at OSF 1982-84) has more than 35 years of experience as a professional actor, director , playwright and artistic director, and has worked with some of the leading theatres in the nation including Artists Repertory Theatre, Portland Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre, The Empty Space Theatre, Tacoma Actors Guild, Salem Repertory and San Jose Repertory Theatre. Lighting designer extraordinaire James Ingalls (many shows at OSF) began his fall designing The Body of an American with Bill Rauch and Christopher Acebo at Portland Center Stage, and just completed work on Sam Shepard's The Curse of the Starving Class at Long Wharf Theatre in Connecticut. Next, Perpetual Dawn for the Paul Taylor Dance Company, then John Adams' The Gospel According to the Other Mary for Peter Sellars and Los Angeles Philharmonic. After that, it's The Big Knife at Roundabout Theatre Company in NYC, the new musical Sense and Sensibility at Denver Center Theatre, and The Master Builder at Brooklyn Acadaemy of Music.

Kelly Koehn (OSF costume props artisan from 1986-2006) is now the costume crafts/dyer at ACT in San Francisco, having most recently worked on a production of Vigil with Marco Barricelli. Kelly’s husband Russell Huddleston was the assistant Master Electrician at OSF from 1989-98 and is now working in Oakland as a biologist for CH2mHill.

Gregory Linington (at OSF 12 seasons) will appear as DeGuiche in Cyrano de Bergerac at PCPA Theatrefest this summer. 

Kevin C. Loomis (OSF actor, 1981) is currently in Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway (with another OSF alumnus, Patrick Page) and recently has played Max in The Producers in one of the first regional productions in Salt Lake City. He toured last year with the new musical adaptation of 101 Dalmatians, directed by four time Tony Award-winner Jerry Zaks.

Peter Macon
(at OSF 2009-12) appeared in August Wilson's King Hedley II at Portland Playhouse

Daniel Mayes and Helen Machin-Smith (at OSF 1981-83) began Island Stage Left in the summer of 1999 with The Tempest and have performed “Shakespeare under the Stars” for the past fourteen years, with a spring, fall and winter shoulder season of modern work including Art, Doubt, Rabbit Hole, The Clean House, The Drawer Boy, Trying and many others. Dan and Helen worked many years in Seattle at Intiman, ACT, Tacoma Actors Guild, and Seattle Repertory Theatre. Helen has directed the company’s productions and Dan has played everything from Iago to Malvolio, Macbeth to Lady Bracknell, Father Flynn to Shylock. They bring other actors (many Equity) to the island from New York, Chicago, Seattle, etc., and their audience comes from around the country. They have two outdoor venues for the summer shows. Phil Davidson came a few summers ago to play Egeon in A Comedy of Errors.

Former associate artistic director Penny Metropulos is directing An Iliad at Syracuse Stage, which runs May 15 - June 9. Penny also directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Portland Center Stage in their 2012-13 season. The cast included current and former OSF actors including Daisuke Tsuji, James Newcomb and Linda Alper.

Christopher Liam Moore (at OSF five seasons) recently directed Red Herring by Michael Hollinger at Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland. Christopher will also be directing Oscar Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan at California Shakespeare Theatre in summer 2013, in addition to A Streetcar Named Desire and A Midsummer Night's Dream at OSF this season.

Christine Meyers (OSF costume shop) now lives in Seattle and has designed shows for Seattle Repertory Theatre (including their recent production of Circle Mirror Transformation) and other companies.

The recent production of Measure for Measure at Chicago's Goodman Theatre featured past and present OSF actors James Newcomb, Alejandra Escalante and Kevin Fugaro.

Paige Newmark (assistant director to Andy Traister on his productions of The Threepenny Opera and Strange Snow in 1986) is now artistic director of Shakespeare WA (Western Australia).

Brooke Parks (at OSF 2010-12) played Ophelia in the Yale Repertory Theatre production of Hamlet, starring Paul Giammati, which ran through April 13.

Kal Poole (at OSF 2001-03) is now managing director of the Grandstreet Theater in Helena, Montana, where he got his acting start at the age of five. Kal came to OSF in 2001 as the Rex Rabold Fellow, and then earned an MFA in Acting and the Creation of New Work from Ohio State University.

Ray Porter (at OSF over 15 seasons) appears in the movie Argo, directed by Ben Affleck.

Margaret (Peggy) Rubin (OSF actor 1957-85, director of Information/Education 1973-85, and director of Public Relations 1986-87) received the following awards for her book To Be and How to Be: Transforming Your Life through Sacred Theatre – two Nautilus Silver Seal awards and a Living Now book award. Aura Sperling (OSF costumes and wardrobe for five seasons) spent two years as a costume designer for theaters in Albuquerque, NM before becoming a union film seamstress and costumer in 2010. Her film/TV credits include Breaking Bad, The Avengers and Last Stand. She is currently working in the tailor shop for The Lone Ranger, due for release in 2013.

Actor and director Randall Stuart (at OSF 1981-82, Daedalus Project 1986-91) is the artistic director of Upon These Boards and Founder and Director of Cerimon House in Portland, Oregon which has featured the collaboration of other OSF grads Megan Cole, Gretchen Rumbaugh, Constance Doolan, Brenda Hubbard and Dawn Lisell. His recent directing assignments include Artists Repertory Theatre, Southern Oregon University and Shakespeare Santa Cruz.

Actor G. Valmont Thomas (at OSF 13 seasons) is currently appearing in Master Harold...and the boys at West of Lenin Theatre in Seattle through April 21.

Derrick Lee Weeden (at OSF 21 years) will appear in a rotating repertory of Shakespeare's Coriolanus and Friedrich Schiller’s Wallenstein at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., March 28 -June 2, 2013. The shows also include former OSF actors Lise Bruneau, Patrick Page, Michael Santo and Robert Sicular. Derrick will also appear as Cyrano in Cyrano de Bergerac at PCPA Theatrefest this summer.

Julie Wilson, former OSF costume crafts artisan (1985-1998), has worked with the Shakespeare Theatre Company and Arena Stage in Washington D.C. Her biggest and most enjoyable recent project was working as a lead stitcher for HBO’s seven-part series, “John Adams.” She is currently the costume crafts technician for Cirque du Soleil’s “O” in Las Vegas.

Kurt-Alexander Zeller (Green Show company, 1990, 1991) is Director of Vocal Studies and Opera at Clayton State University in suburban Atlanta, Georgia, and recently (January 2013) directed a program of sacred opera for the National Opera Association.  (The cast included former OSF Green Show singer Amanda Kelley.)  The second edition of his book, What Every Singer Needs to Know about the Body, has just been released by Plural Publishing of San Diego, and he will be presenting at the International Congress of Voice Teachers in Brisbane, Australia in July of 2013.
