Patsy Smullin

Patsy Smullin, Medford, Oregon is President and Owner of California Oregon Broadcasting, Inc., the parent company of four TV stations, three cable systems and the longest, continuously independent broadcast organization in the West. Patsy grew up in Eureka, California and has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology from Oregon State University with continuing education at Southern Oregon State College (now Southern Oregon University) and Stanford University. She began her communications career in 1973 and served as Vice President of Southern Oregon Cable until 1982. Patsy became President of COBI in December 1984, with duties including direction of COBI’s TV stations in California and Oregon, and cable systems in Central and Eastern Oregon.

She currently is Chairperson of the NBC Government Relations Committee, a Member of the National Association of Broadcasters TV Board of Directors, a Charter Member of Women in Cable TV and a Member of Young Presidents Organization. She serves as Co-Chairperson of the NAB TV and Radio Political Action Committee. She has served on the Boards of the Oregon Cable Telecommunications Association (President), Pacific Northwest Cable Association (President), and Oregon Association of Broadcasters (President). Patsy serves on the Board of the State of Oregon’s AAA, Willamette University Board of Directors and Southern Oregon University Foundation Board of Trustees. Past Board involvement includes the Rogue Valley Medical Center and the Oregon Commission on Public Broadcasting. Patsy served on the Festival’s Board from 1999 – 2006.
