Dame-jasmine Hughes

I am a critically acclaimed, OBIE and IVEY award-winning actress and filmmaker from the Mississippi Delta and an alumna of The Piney Woods School. I graduated cum laude from Tougaloo College, B.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities/Mass Communication and later earned my M.F.A from California Institute of the Arts in Acting. I have over 10 years professional acting experience, 15 years of radio experience and 6 years in education/instructional experience; notably and most recently at Stanford University and University of Minnesota. I completed humanitarian work in Kenya, as an Operations Crossroads Africa volunteer in 2016. I am a former beauty queen and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and former Content Development partner for BLACK WITH NO CHASER, and a MC/Songwriter. I currently work out of Minneapolis, MN. My work here has led me to create and produce my own series, ANGRY BLACK B@amp;$%#! following two young fly afronauts, a rapper and a postgrad hippie, thriving to glow-up by hook or crook, and live out loud in a world that refuses to hear them.
