Sam Dakin has been coming to OSF consecutively since 1972. He lives in Sebastopol, California, with his wife Skye and their two young children. He also has four adult children, two of which went through the OSF education program for Juniors and Seniors and are now both theater professionals. All six of Sam’s children have grown up going to plays in Ashland. Sam has owned a second home in Ashland for over 30 years, and had the privilege of serving on the OSF Board previously, from approximately 1989 until 1996. During that tenure, he saw the Elizabethan Pavilion project, the campaign and building of the New Theatre (now Thomas Theatre), the retirement of Jerry Turner, and the appointment of Libby Appel. Sam is a partner in an architectural stained glass business in Portland called Savoy Studios and was a major partner in the Lagunitas Brewery until the sale to Heineken. He has a number of other business ventures/interests, and also excels at his hobbies which include a passion for natural science, mineralogy and history. He was a docent at the Bouverie Audubon Preserve for more than twenty years. He is passionate about preserving natural landscapes and supports Environmental Activism. Sam and Skye are members of OSF’s Artistic Director’s Circle and enjoy sponsoring a show each season. They have also made two large, multi-year additional commitments in support of the Artistic Opportunity Fund and helping support OSF’s Infrastructure as Nataki launches her tenure.
