Composer/Sound Designer, Born with Teeth
Cliff Caruthers is a San Francisco–based sound designer and composer with over 300 production credits. Highlights include Troilus and Cressida for OSF, 1984, The Winter’s Tale, Pictures from Home, and Born Yesterday for Alley Theatre, Frankenstein: Playing With Fire for Guthrie Theater, Sweat for Center Repertory Company, Julius Caesar for The Acting Company, Man in Love for Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Caucasian Chalk Circle for American Conservatory Theater; TRAGEDY: a tragedy for Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Lasso of Truth for Marin Theatre Company, Detroit for Aurora Theatre Company, American Night for California Shakespeare Theater, Bug for San Francisco Playhouse, A Dreamplay, Pelleas & Melisande, and Ubu Roi for The Cutting Ball Theater, and A Clean House, Fun Home, Memphis, Arcadia, Constellations, and The Loudest Man on Earth for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, where he was resident sound designer for seven years. Mr. Caruthers is co-curator and technical director of the San Francisco Tape Music Festival, is a proud member of United Scenic Artists, and teaches sound design at San Francisco State University.
