Composer and Musician, La Comedia of Errors
At OSF: Music arranger and performer in the OSF Green Show; Othello (2008); guest artist with the Terra Nova Consort; composer, arranger, pianist and guitarist for Lorca in a Green Dress (world premiere, 2003). Grant Ruiz specializes in flamenco guitar, rhythms and song. After studying flamenco in Spain and with several renowned artists in the U.S., he began teaching in the Rogue Valley. Currently, Ruiz is a guest lecturer on flamenco for world music courses at SOU, where he is an adjunct professor. He also teaches privately and at St. Mary’s School, and performs in the classical, jazz, pop, rock and Native American flute genres.
Other: Guitarist, Oregon premiere of Joseph Julian Gonzales’s Misa Azteca; preshow act for the Gipsy Kings at the Britt Music & Arts Festival; performances with Flamenco Pacifico, Dúo Flamenco, Alba Flamenca and the Dark Rose Classical Guitar Trio.
