Muriel Mangual comes from a multi-generational family of seamstresses from Puerto Rico. She went to Villanova University for Political Science and a concentration in Arab and Islamic Studies. During, the recession of 2009 Muriel decided to pursue her passion of costuming while obtaining her Master’s degree in Organizational Management and Global Leadership. She started with designing and creating Latin dance (Salsa &Bachata) costumes for competition within her Latin dance community for several years. Muriel went to Made Institute in Philadelphia, PA for their garment construction program. While, going to school for garment construction Muriel took jobs at local high schools throughout tri-state area, teaching costume design and construction. During, the summer Muriel worked at summer stocks theatres such as Ocean City Theatre Company and Berkshire Theatre Group. Muriel has worked several seasons at Opera Philadelphia starting as an over-hire stitcher and move through the ranks as a First Hand and ultimately secondary Cutter/Draper. Muriel has worked at OSF since fall of 2017 as a First Hand. During the pandemic Muriel worked at the local David’s Bridal as the Alterations manger for the Rogue Valley. In addition, to being the Costume Designer for the Oregon Cabaret’s holiday show, Christmas Contigo. She is returning to the OSF costume shop as the Associate Costume Director.
