Elizabeth Williamson is the Artistic Director at Geva Theatre Center. Williamson is internationally known for her work developing and premiering major new plays and musicals, which have won multiple awards including the Olivier Award for Best Play, the Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Play, and Critics Circle, Evening Standard, GLAAD, and Drama Desk Awards for Best Play. She has worked on Broadway, in London's West End, Off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally. She also has extensive experience working on Shakespeare and the classics, including her own translations and adaptations of Charlotte Brontë and Marivaux for Hartford Stage. Recent projects include dramaturging the Broadway and West End productions of The Inheritance (Tony, Olivier, Critics Circle, Evening Standard, GLAAD, and Drama Desk Awards for Best Play, Outer Critics Circle Honoree), A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (Tony Award for Best Musical), and Anastasia; artistic producing, co-directing and dramaturging Russian Troll Farm (TheaterWorks Hartford/Theatre Squared/The Civilians, New York Times list for Best Theater of 2020), directing & adapting Jane Eyre (Hartford Stage), dramaturging Make Believe (Outer Critics Circle Honoree, New York Times list for Best Theater of 2019), and directing Henry V (Hartford Stage.)
