Author, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Lyman Frank Baum, better known by his pen name L. Frank Baum, was an American author, playwright, journalist and independent filmmaker chiefly known for his children’s books. He is best known as the creator, along with illustrator W. W. Denslow, of one of the most popular books in American children's literature, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, better known today as simply The Wizard of Oz (1900). In addition, he wrote 13 sequels, nine other fantasy novels and many other works (55 novels in total, plus four “lost” novels, 83 short stories, more than 200 poems, an unknown number of scripts and many miscellaneous writings).
