Awards: Pulitzer Prize in Drama (Sunday in the Park with George, with James Lapine). He has won the most Tony Awards—eight—of any composer, including a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievements (2008) as well as numerous Grammy Awards, Drama Desk Awards, Obie Awards and Olivier Awards. Several of his plays have been adapted for film and television. Sondheim is a member of the American Theatre Hall of Fame.
