July 31 – September 15, 2024 Thomas Theatre

An immigrant between two worlds

This one-man show tells a true story of the journey a young man takes to find belonging in two worlds divided. Using multilingual dialogue, traditional Iranian music, and American pop culture, OSF fan favorite Barzin Akhavan (Oklahoma!, Water by the Spoonful) brings his irrepressible energy back to OSF.

Approximate running time: 1 hours and 25 minutes, with no intermission.

Notes to the audience: (Very) brief nudity.

Suitability Suggestions
Actor Barzin Akhavan radiates warmth as he narrates his story of immigrating from Iran in 1980 and his adaptation to American life. This autobiographical journey, with an anti-bullying lens, contains some profanity, has a brief moment of male nudity, and is delivered with humor and love. The play is suited for prepared students able to handle these elements.
